Keylani and her two older siblings entered foster care due to her mother's significant and ongoing struggles with mental illness and her father's incarceration. Unfortunately, Keylani's mother subsequently passed away in 2022. Keylani is a bundle of energy and has an insane amount of drive. She does extremely well in school and has participated in her school's flag football team. When school resumes, Keylani is planning to run for student government.

Although Keylani is outgoing and social and loves to be part of the group at school, she often expresses feeling she does not quite have the same life experiences as her peers and wonders if they truly know and understand her. Fitting in can be difficult for a child in foster care who does not have the resources of a biological family, unlike most of her peers. She would love a pair of more stylish but still practical new shoes for the start of the school year to help her feel more confident and included.
