After experiencing a mental health crisis, Jason's father, who was his sole caregiver, refused to pick him up from treatment when he was discharged. 8 years later, Jason is polite, kind, and determined to establish himself in independent living as he soon turns 18. He is optimistic and grateful for the adults in his life that are helping him navigate these challenges and transitions. He is determined to graduate from high school this year and is eager to join the workforce to earn money and make friends.

Jason will soon celebrate his 18th birthday, a significant moment of transition into adulthood. Jason has struggled over the years to feel excited or happy on his birthday as his memories surrounding holidays and celebrations growing up have not been positive. Jason rarely, if ever asks for anything. He recently confided in his advocate that he really likes a certain gaming controller, and we are determined to give him a birthday gift to remind him how special and loved he is.
