Kutztown University of Pennsylvania

Rain is a resilient college student who has faced tremendous challenges, including being homeless four times before the age of 18 and spending most of their life sleeping in a car. At one point, Rain had to sleep in a detention center due to a lack of available beds in foster care agencies. After finally finding stability in a group home, they transitioned to college, determined to pursue their education despite severe health issues. Rain battles both Lupus and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, which pose significant barriers to their studies and daily life. Currently, they rely on a cane to navigate campus, but their perseverance remains unshaken. Rain is a history major, minoring in archival studies and anthropology. Rain is interested in the paranormal, the Reconstruction era of history, and playing video games.

Rain is requesting a mini fridge for school, to help them safely store perishable food items in their residence hall for the academic year. Rain has no family support and very limited financial resources to help them purchase a mini fridge for their dorm room. Since Rain lives on campus during the academic year, having their own mini fridge would be a huge help, especially during times when university dining services are closed or are on limited hours of operation during university breaks. Rain will then be able to make quick, nutritious meals in their room. Rain plans to use this mini fridge for the next few years as they complete their degree, making this a meaningful investment in their long-term success during college.
