Salena has faced more challenges than many young people her age. She lost her father and has had to navigate her mother’s ongoing struggles with substance use, all before entering foster care. These experiences have brought a lot of uncertainty and change into her life, but Salena continues to move forward with strength and hope. She is now living with her aunt, who has provided her with a safe, stable, and loving home where she can begin to feel secure and supported. In this new environment, Salena is slowly building her confidence and discovering more about who she is and what she enjoys. She is learning that her past does not have to define her future, and she is excited about the possibilities ahead. Salena deserves the chance to simply be a kid, make happy memories, and continue growing into the confident young woman she is becoming.

Salena wishes for new school clothes because she has outgrown many of the clothes she currently owns and has very few outfits that fit her well. Starting a new school year with clothes that fit comfortably and match her personal style would help her feel more confident and prepared. Being able to choose her own clothing is something she doesn't often get to do, and having new school clothes would give her a sense of independence and help her begin the school year feeling comfortable, confident, and ready to succeed.
