Court Appointed Special Advocates of Monmouth County

Pengyu was removed from his father's care due to significant safety concerns related to his father's severe mental health challenges, including paranoia and manic episodes. These concerns led his father to leave China with Pengyu and travel through three countries before eventually settling in the United States, where they experienced homelessness. Recognizing that he was not safe and needed assistance, Pengyu contacted the Division himself to ask for help. His ability to seek support during such a difficult and unstable time demonstrates remarkable resilience and self-advocacy.

Pengyu has never had the opportunity to learn how to ride a bike, but he is determined to change that! He has been working hard to teach himself and is excited to gain this new skill. His current protective gear is worn out and no longer provides the support and confidence he needs. A new set of safety gear would help him feel secure as he practices, allowing him to build his confidence and enjoy this important childhood milestone safely.
