CASA for Kids of South Central TexasAaliyah entered foster care at a young age with her twin brother after they were abandoned at a hotel. They were later adopted, but unfortunately, things did not work out in their adoptive home. After spending some time with friends, Aaliyah remained a model student in high school but soon faced the possibility of becoming homeless as a senior. With the help of the McKinney-Vento Act, she has found temporary placement in a group home located 20 miles from her school.
As an independent young adult navigating college on her own without any parental or guardian support, Aaliyah is determined to succeed. As she adjusts to the demands of being a college student and a collegiate athlete, securing basic necessities like snacks, easy meals, and drinks has become crucial for her well-being. Without a family safety net to rely on, having access to these essentials would help alleviate her everyday worries, allowing her to focus on her studies and athletic commitments while ensuring she has the nourishment she needs.
