Jacob is a funny and witty teenager who enjoys spending time with his friends and girlfriend. He works at Dollar Tree and is saving money to buy his own car. Jacob loves fishing, camping, and spending time outdoors. He is a jokester who likes to play pranks on his little sisters, but he is also a protective older brother.

Jacob is wishing for a new pair of school shoes as he gets ready to start at a brand-new school. After being removed from his parents' care right before the school year and couch-surfing before entering foster care, he was unable to bring many of his belongings with him. Living with a family friend and transferring to a new, farther-away school has been a stressful transition, and he's feeling nervous about fitting in. Having a fresh, reliable pair of shoes will give Jacob a much-needed sense of normalcy, pride, and comfort as he steps into his new classroom.
