Jacob has been living in a group home for some time. Before that, he moved through five foster homes after being removed from his parents due to extensive physical and emotional abuse. Jacob's family has always struggled financially, making it difficult for him to get by. He is working hard to finish high school and complete his technical school training in welding to pursue a career. Jacob is determined to better himself and is putting in a lot of effort to achieve his goals.

Jacob is wishing for new sweatpants as the fall weather approaches. Since he currently has only two pairs of pants, this new pair will help him feel comfortable and confident about fitting in with his peers at school.
