Mareena spent 1 year in foster care. The biggest challenge she faced during this time was staying focused in school. She was taking honors courses, but had to be bussed to another school over an hour away. Waking up at 4am every day to get ready and get to school on time was mentally and physically exhausting. Mareena was determined and graduated with A’s and B’s in all of her classes. Her goal in life is to become an RN. She enjoys photography, crafts, sewing, rollerblading and playing with her children.

Mareena recently graduated from college with honors and will soon start a Master's program to become a museum archivist. She is endlessly grateful for the support of her husband, sister, and children through her educational journey. In her free time, Mareena loves trying out new recipes for her family. Unfortunately, her current set of cookware is outdated and unsafe. She would love a new set of stainless steel pans to continue cooking meals and making lasting memories.
