CrossRoads Programs IncButler is a bright, confident, and willing young boy who demonstrates a strong desire to learn and understand the world around him. He possesses a significant amount of knowledge and awareness for his age. Butler has been in foster care since the age of three due to his parents’ mental health challenges and substance use, which resulted in the Division taking him into custody. Since being placed in care, he has made significant progress and accomplished many goals at a young age. He has developed an understanding of age-appropriate life skills and is learning what healthy routines, responsibilities, and expectations look like. Butler has also made progress in identifying and utilizing coping skills when he becomes frustrated, upset, or overwhelmed. Rather than acting out immediately, he is learning to pause, recognize his emotions, and use appropriate coping strategies to manage his feelings. These accomplishments demonstrate his ability to learn, grow, and develop positive skills when provided with consistency, structure, support, and encouragement
Butler loves riding his bike, but he's outgrown his current one, making it hard for him to keep enjoying something he loves. A properly sized bike would give him that back, along with real benefits beyond just physical activity. Riding can support a boy's emotional and mental well-being in meaningful ways, building confidence, supporting healthy development, and giving him a positive outlet when big feelings come up. For Butler, having a bike that fits could become more than just fun; it could be a coping tool he turns to when he needs space to work through emotions on his own.
