Tai'lan is a bright and sociable child who enjoys playing video games and participating in sports such as basketball and football. When he was very young, his safety and well-being were compromised due to issues with his mother, which led to the involvement of the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). However, he is now back living with his mother and siblings, and the family is adapting well as they work towards complete reunification. Despite the challenges he has faced, Tai'lan remains kind and caring.

Tai'lan had to adjust earlier this year to being placed with a relative in Los Angeles after concerns arose about his mother's ability to provide a safe home. Even with that move, he's stayed committed to his community in Pomona, making the long commute to school every single day. With his birthday coming up, new shoes would give him something exciting to look forward to and a well-earned reward for his resilience and hard work in school.
