Ja'Lynn entered foster care in 2023 due to concerns related to her mother's ongoing substance use and inability to provide consistent care and supervision. Before entering care, Ja'Lynn's mother left her with a family friend. Over time, Ja'Lynn and the family friend experienced homelessness, and the caregiver was no longer able to continue providing for Ja'Lynn's needs. During this period of instability, Ja'Lynn was also not consistently enrolled in or attending school for approximately two years. These circumstances led to Department involvement to ensure Ja'Lynn had a safe, stable placement and access to appropriate educational and supportive services.

Ja'Lynn is currently participating in a credit recovery program to complete outstanding high school credits and remain on track towards graduation. She needs access to a reliable laptop to complete online assignments, communicate with school staff, access instructional materials, and submit coursework on time. Providing Ja'Lynn with a laptop would support her educational stability, increase her ability to manage her school responsibilities independently, and help her continue making progress toward completing her high school education.
