Phoenix ScholarsSusan is a former foster youth who was in foster care for the majority of their life, prior to age 13. After a break from college, Susan returned with a passion for her education. Since her return, Susan has excelled at the community college level. Susan has found she loves agricultural studies and engineering. She currently uses her knowledge to mentor some people in our foster youth program. Susan loves to be helpful and loves to give back to the community that has helped her. Susan hopes to transfer from community college to a four-year university and pursue mechatronics engineering with a minor in agricultural science.
Susan is a hardworking student who rarely asks for help, so when she reached out, it stood out. Next fall, she's transitioning to a four-year university to study mechatronics and agricultural science, and a bicycle would give her reliable transportation to get to class, run errands, and manage her day-to-day life once she's there. For someone stepping into a brand-new environment, an easy way to get around would make that transition less daunting, letting Susan focus her energy on settling in and doing what she does best: working hard toward her future.
