Catalina has experienced significant trauma and separation in her young life. In 2025, she experienced a significant medical catastrophe that doctors believed she might not survive. She has been in foster care since February 2026. She has multiple mental health diagnoses and significant cognitive deficits.

Catalina's therapist recommended this cushion, which lets her move slightly while seated instead of sitting completely still. It would help Catalina stay seated longer while reading, writing, playing, or eating, while providing the sensory and movement input she needs and encouraging better balance along the way.
