Foster Alumni MentorsAsh is a hardworking young woman working toward stability and independence. She was in foster care periodically from ages 4 to 17, with a few periods where she returned home in between. Through these experiences, Ash has become an adaptable, reliable, and trustworthy young woman who continues to work hard to build a strong future for herself. Ash’s current goals include finding stable employment and housing, improving her credit score, and getting support with college so she can do well in her education. She is motivated to keep moving forward and is working hard to build a stable, independent life.
Ash is requesting a new laptop to help her succeed in school. Most college courses, even in-person ones, require students to have regular access to a computer for assignments, research, communication, and other schoolwork. Ash already has a long commute, which can make it difficult to find enough time to complete her coursework. Having her own laptop would give her the flexibility to work on assignments wherever and whenever works best for her, without having to find access to a computer elsewhere. This support would reduce some of the stress and barriers she faces, allowing her to focus more on her education and work toward her goal of doing well in college.
