Roy is a child who is mature beyond his years. He helped take care of his sick older brother and watched him slowly pass away. After his brother's death, Roy was removed from his home due to severe abuse and neglect. He has difficulty making sense of the traumatic experiences he witnessed. Despite this, Roy is a bright young man who enjoys being active and playing outside. Currently in foster care, he struggles to find his place. He has a wonderful, creative mind and enjoys fixing things. Roy is learning to appreciate the joys of childhood, such as riding a bike.

Roy picked out a cool backpack he has really been hoping for. His current one is ripped, and the zipper is broken. He couldn't get a new backpack when school started, so he's been carrying a worn-out bag for weeks. This one also comes with a small travel bag, which gives him even more room to carry what he needs. A new backpack would let him walk into school feeling proud, and he can't wait to show it off to his friends.
