Derek is asking for the bike because he wants to prove he can be as big and strong as the other children in the foster home. He wants to show them that he can pedal faster than any of them and wants to try to ride down the "big hill" in the neighborhood.
Derek is 10 years old and lives in OH
Derek is the youngest child in a home with seven other children. He is the baby in the big family, but thinks he is bigger than he is. He loves to try to act as strong as all of his other foster brothers and sisters or possibly even stronger.
