A month of Martial Arts Classes for Angelina to help build self-confidence and self-discipline
Posted Jun 21, 2017
Angelina is currently residing with her Grandmother and this year was placed in a mainstream classroom for the first time. Angelina has struggled with peer relationships and exhibited behavioral problems due to life and family stressors that are beyond her control. Angelina's parents are currently working on building trust with Angelina again and it was determined that Angelina is in need of a positive outlet to vent her anger and frustrations even though she has come a long way already. The Division has provided three months of Martial Arts classes for Angelina and she really enjoys it. Aside from gaining self confidence, learning discipline and self-awareness, it is also helping her improve her social skills without fear of being bullied or made fun of and is improving her physical health. Angelina could greatly benefit from continued classes. Any extra assistance would be greatly appreciated as the Grandmother cannot afford the classes at this time. Angelina would like to continue the classes for a year. The instructor advised that Angelina struggles with self-confidence in part due to her weight but does well in class, hasn't quit and doesn't complain. The instructor is working with Angelina to make her feel comfortable and instill confidence.
