Maria is a beautiful little girl that became a Neighbor To Family foster child when her foster mother transitioned to become a Neighbor To Family foster parent. The foster mother chose to bring Maria with her instead of turning her back over to the state's custody. From her interaction with her foster mom, it is very evident that Maria really loves her foster mother.
