NJ DCFS - Passaic CountySean is a bright young man who is very resilient, and he has a very compassionate heart. He is very friendly, and he has an inviting personality. Sean is a caring young adult and he has compassion for others around him. He is enrolled in many extra-curricular activities and he enjoys music. Sean participates in his school choir as he has a talent for singing and he is a leader in his choir. He demonstrated leadership skills by assembling and producing the annual musical production in his school.
From Sean: I am writing to you to request assistance with an affordable laptop computer for the upcoming school year. Since my recent foster care placement at the beginning of last school year I have been moved out of an under-performing high school in Paterson and placed into Manchester High School in North Haledon. It was a difficult transition, both personally and academically, however I was determined to be successful. I worked very hard and managed to catch up on all my studies. I am happy to report that I have successfully completed my 10th grade curriculum, achieved high honor roll and I'm currently going into the 11th grade. As part of my studies I completed a PC graphics course in my sophomore year in which I received high honor roll and a cumulative average of a 97. My teacher took a special interest in my abilities and encouraged me to continue into the advanced class. As a result I want to continue my study in graphics. In order to continue at the advanced level I'm in need of a computer that I can use for assignments and projects. This course of study will allow me to enhance my skills as well as make me marketable for future employment opportunities, especially in the current age of Technology. With your assistance I will not be limited to having to use a school computer or going to a local library which both have time limited access to computers. I was able to be on honor roll last year for the first time in my academic career and I want to continue to strive for academic achievement. Having a computer will be the essential first step in my future academic success. Sincerely, Sean

"Sean, I am so impressed with your letter setting out why you want the computer. You clearly have exceptional talents and are putting them to good use. My husband is the chief information officer of a college and there are many opportunities out there for people skilled with computers. I wish you all the best. Amy"
