Housing Supplies for Christopher to attend the Foster Youth Internship Program in Washington DC

Posted Mar 28, 2019
Christopher is a student from Connecticut who was accepted into CCAI’s 2019 Foster Youth Internship Program in Washington, D.C. For 17 years, the FYI Program has been a highly esteemed, life-changing youth empowerment program for young adults who have spent their formative years in the U.S. foster care system. The program offers Foster Youth Interns the opportunity to intern in a congressional office and become published authors of a federal child welfare policy report. To help make this program an impactful experience for the interns, CCAI provides full service, wrap-around care throughout the internship. We need your help to provide essential dorm housing supplies such as bedding, toiletries, plates, utensils, cooking supplies, and detergent in addition to other miscellaneous living supplies. We so appreciate your support!

Christopher is 28 years old and lives in CT

Christopher has a bachelor’s degree in journalism and linguistics from Connecticut State University and received a 2-year residential teaching certification from Connecticut while taking graduate courses at Johns Hopkins University and teaching elementary education. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in counseling and higher education at CCSU. Chris co-founded and currently leads the CCSU CARE (Central Academic Readiness Engagement) Scholars program, which supports undergraduate students from foster care and adoption through mentorship and advocacy. The CARE Scholars program, staffed entirely by former foster youth, has over 90 students and is one of the only college access programs for foster youth in New England.

"Dear Jori, Thank you very much for the generous fulfillment of a wish for Christopher in support of the CCAI Foster Youth Internship Program, which provides talented young people who have spent their formative years in foster care an opportunity to intern for a Member of Congress and write a federal child welfare policy report. These young adults bring their unique perspectives and resilient spirits to serve the U.S. Congress while being educated on the internal workings of Washington, D.C. Your contribution will help Christopher from New Britain, Connecticut, change the future of adoption and foster care on Capitol Hill this summer. Christopher has a bachelor’s degree in journalism and linguistics from Connecticut State University and received a 2-year residential teaching certification from Connecticut while taking graduate courses at Johns Hopkins University and teaching elementary education. Thank you for helping to ensure that CCAI has the ability to make this once in a lifetime internship a reality! Warm regards, Team CCAI "
