A Bike for Anna so she can join her sister on a bike at the park

Posted May 23, 2019
Anna is a very active little girl and her foster parents would very much like to teach her the lifelong skill of bike riding. They live opposite a park and plan to spend a lot of time there this summer. Anna can not wait to spend the summer riding her new bike!

Anna is 7 years old and lives in NJ

Anna and her sister Julia were placed in foster care in 2017 and have been in a couple of placements. The girls are very close in age and temperament. They love to play together and are very active. Both girls are bilingual in Spanish and English. They love to swim, practice gymnastics and play with dolls. Both are very girly girls with lots of energy. They are currently in a preschool intervention program that aims to get them up to date academically before they enter school.

"Anna and Julia’s foster parents sent me a great video of the sisters riding their bikes at the park which, due to confidentiality, I am unable to share. However, I do want to let you know that in the video, they are smiling and shouting loud “thank yous” to the camera as they wobble past. (No cars around.) It is clear from the video that they are both loving learning how to ride their bikes at the park! They definitely very much need to use the training wheels as they are only beginning to get used to the concept of peddling with their feet - which do not always stay on the pedals! They also tend to look down at the pedals rather than in the direction they are going – and coming to a stop seems to be tricky too! But these tiny sisters both are obviously very excited and happy to be able to ride and they look very cute with their matching helmets, (lots of curly hair poking out from underneath), riding their pink bikes with the baskets on the front. It is obvious that getting the girls outside actively riding bikes is very dear to the hearts of the foster parents. Thank you so much for your wonderful donation!!
