After graduating from high school, Nadia attempted college several times unfortunately she was not prepared to finish the experience. She experienced poverty, homelessness, and violence, and had no support system after bouncing through foster homes up until she aged out at 18. Once emancipated, she had to gradually work her way out of the cycle of negativity that she had grown accustomed to in life. She experienced domestic violence for several years after leaving the system. This experience picked apart every piece of her life. She said, "It damaged my educational performance, drained my finances, and had a lasting negative impact on my mental health." But over the past year, she has grown and become the person she knew she could be. Now that she is on the best path, she wants a second chance to overcome the statistics associated with foster care outcomes. In doing this, she has enabled herself to successfully push through the first portion of her educational journey.

Nadia had the chance to visit her biological dad over the holidays. He is very sick and the trip to see him meant a lot to Nadia. She would love to continue to see him every once in a while, starting with a trip again in early March.
