Car for Reagan who is overwhelmed with bad news lately

Posted May 29, 2020
Reagan’s car broke down a few weeks ago and she came to One Simple Wish asking for support with repairs. Unfortunately, when she brought the car in she learned that the repairs would cost more than the car was worth and sadly it seems that the bad news kept coming for Reagan. Over the weekend, Reagan rushed her 3 year old daughter to the hospital for emergency surgery. The doctors explained that a lymph node had a tumor and, while thankfully she recovered from surgery, Reagan is still waiting to hear from the doctors to get a final determination of the risk for re-growth and/or cancer. In the meantime, Reagan is loving every moment with her daughter but inside is worried not only about her health, but also what the loss of work and new hospital and doctors bills that are mounting on top of all of her other bills. Reagan really needs a working car in order to continue to work and get her daughter to appointments, but especially with the mounting bills, purchasing a car is out of her means right now. She found the perfect station wagon that will serve her family well. $4,500 will make her wish come true.

Reagan is 32 years old and lives in ME

Reagan reached out to One Simple Wish for support and one thing was very clear from her story - She is a hardworking, determined, young person who is not letting her circumstances define her. In Reagan's words, "My name is Reagan, I am a married mother of one beautiful little girl, age 3. I was in foster care on and off from age 7 until I aged out of care. During that time, I was in a total of 31 placements on my road to being an adult (not including periodic failed placements back home in an effort of permanency.) I struggled my way through school, both full and part-time from semester to semester . I worked odd jobs to support myself on my way to my undergraduate degree. I graduated with a 3.0 GPA with my Bachelors of Arts degree from the University of Maine and now work as care coordinator and direct care worker for children who are in my exact situation two decades ago."
