Joanna entered foster care as a toddler, and bounced around through more than 60 placements before she aged out as an adult. Even though her experience in foster care was very difficult, she looks back on those times as shaping her into the strong, independent woman she is today. Joanna is committed to fighting for the voiceless, donates her time to helping the homeless population in Matamoros, Mexico, and runs her own thrift shop.

When Joanna was asked to submit her wish for Mother's Day, she chose to ask for a gift card to purchase fun, colorful toys for her son instead of something for herself. She is a selfless mother who especially loves to read to her son in English and Spanish. Providing for him will make her Mother's Day wish come true.
