Tah'via does not have a stable place to call home. She and her mother move from motel to motel and once in a while she is able to visit her grandmother. Tah'via's mother works to pay the bills and cannot afford new clothes at this time. Tah'via is getting older and more aware of her living situation and is taking more notice of her appearance. Tav'hia wants to look "pretty like the other girls" and believes if she had nice clothes like her friends that would make her feel pretty.
