Experiences for Jorge who wants to be more independent

Posted Oct 19, 2021
Jorge is working towards his goal of being more independent. He would loves being able to decide what he is able to do and what he should save more money for. Jorge cannot wait to be able to do more activities within his group home, now that he has the funds.

Jorge is 31 years old and lives in NJ

Jorge is an exceptional young man who has a smile that absolutely lights up a room. He experienced brain damage at birth, has cerebral palsy and is confined to a wheelchair. This absolutely doesn't stop him from achieving his dreams, including attending college for video game design. When his mother learned of the potential struggles he would encounter, she abandoned him at the hospital. Jorge's grandmother rescued him and took custody of him and his five siblings. She was his protector, his angel, and his guiding light until she past away when he was 13. After living in a series of group homes throughout his teen years, Jorge aged out of foster care without being adopted. He currently is living at a men's group home where he enjoys playing video games, being with his friends, and showing off his DJ skills. Jorge's one hope in life is to find his forever family. He has never felt loved by a family since his grandmother. She loved him unconditionally and Jorge doesn't want to live the rest of his life around strangers that have to take care of him because it’s their job. Jorge is full of love and life and he desperately wants experience what a real, caring family is and share his love with them.
