A Sewing Kit for Marion who wants to upcycle her clothes

Posted Dec 15, 2021
Marion is seeing that a lot of her clothes could stand to be repaired rather than "thrown out". She is asking for a sewing kit to make those repairs but also take her sewing skills to another level.

Marion is 19 years old and lives in NC

Marion graduated high school this spring. This is a huge accomplishment--she graduated early for her age, early for a foster youth, and early for her family since few have completed high school. Marion had to do some make up work to make sure she graduated. She has a lot of goals--She wants to start college. She wants to get a job, a car, and her own place. She has walked through a lot of drama in her life as a foster youth and knows to stay away from it as much as she can. She has done so well with achieving her goals and expectations she has set for herself. She has worked at a couple of jobs recently, but she is finding fast food learning experiences----but she wants to move on. She is developing her supervisory skills and may be she can be an entrepreneur some day!

"Hi Marion - I grew up in foster homes and learned about One Simple Wish yesterday. I chose your wish because I liked sewing when I was your age. Also because of your ambitions . . . I did go to college and that opened up so many wonderful opportunities for me. Strong & smart is a powerful combination. All the best to you - make yourself proud! "
