UC Riverside - Guardian Scholars Program

Jennifer is an extremely hard-working student and parent. She's a single mom who was emancipated from foster care and provides for her five children--four sons and a daughter. Jennifer is a Sociology Major with a passion for social justice and is dedicated to serving others. Jennifer has aspirations to become a lawyer or a social worker. Jennifer has a vivacious personality; she is resilient and is a positive person that is always willing to help others. She is very mature and serves as a role model to many of our incoming freshmen students.

Jennifer is a college going foster youth who is raising her two children while pursuing her degree to become a counselor. Jennifer is very resourceful, but has fallen on hard times due to a very serious health condition. Unable to work because she needs to receive regular treatments, she is struggling to make ends meet. Her family of 3 does not receive enough food stamps to cover the food they need, especially because she needs to be eating as many HEALTHY and fresh items as she can. She is asking for help to meet her family's basic needs for food, and so she can fill her pantry with fresh fruits and veggies, dairy and protein sources, and some special snacks for her children.
