Leroy has worked incredibly hard to get this point in his life and is working toward his master’s degree. He wants to advance his skills and become a collegiate track Certified Nonprofit Professional, which in turn will help him seek out better employment and personal growth opportunities. This program offers college students like Leroy with conferences, workshops, and a mentorship match with a professional from the social sector. This program will definitely help Leroy better serve his community!
Leroy is 29 years old and lives in TX
Leroy is a former foster youth who experienced significant trauma as a child. His father was murdered in 2010 and his mother abandoned him and his siblings. Leroy suffers from ADHD, Depression and Anxiety but has learned to cope with them. After six years, he graduated from university with his Bachelors in Criminal Justice, and now is in a Masters in Public Affairs program. Leroy would like to continue helping children and youth who experience the system. Some of his accomplishments are having graduated, becoming a Naturalized US Citizen and having been awarded a Certificate of Special Congressional Commendation because of his involvement in the community. He has also assisted in making sure local colleges, universities and related stakeholders work together in bridging the gap and helping foster youth transition into higher education in a smoother way.
