Abigaelle and her brother are struggling to fit in with their American peers. While Abigaelle is not being bullied at school like her brother is over his clothing and overall cultural differences; she does recognize that her clothes are different than her peers. Her parents are employed and are making ends meet; however, they cannot afford to purchase a new wardrobe at this time. Abigaelle desperately wants to fit in and learn how to be “American.” Her clothes are currenlty hand me downs and are visibly worn.
Abigaelle is 11 years old and lives in NJ
Abigaelle and her family immigrated to the US from Haiti. Abigaelle is struggling to learn English and to adapt to the US culture. She is fairing better than her older brother but she misses her friends and family back home. She has made two friends here and they enjoy playing outside together. Abigaelle enjoys spending time with her family, playing with her brother, singing and dancing and loves helping her mother cook.
