As an adult, Caroline suffered a different kind of trauma - a terrible 25-foot fall from a bridge that shattered her jaw and her teeth. It was a miracle that Caroline even survived. Even after multiple surgeries to repair her jaw and teeth, the number of fractures and surgeries have caused her to develop early onset arthritis in her jaw. She suffers from significant bite issues and TMJ, and her state insurance will not cover any additional medical interventions. While she has a lot of medical trauma from this incident, she finally got up the courage to be evaluated by a medical professional to address her pain. They have recommended she have dental splints implanted to help correct her bite pattern and re-position her teeth and jaw so they sit more comfortably, and give her some much need relief. Caroline has come to One Simple Wish for help to move forward with her treatment plan, and she is nervous, but also excited, to hopefully be on the road to full recovery.
