Diego's father had a previous diagnosis of cancer, which has since returned. He cannot work due to his medical diagnosis, and the family's household income has decreased. Diego's mother is not working because she has to care for Diego's 7 month old little brother who has been in and out of the NICU. Diego is holding down the fort, and a rice cooker will help him with meal prep so he can provide food for his ill father, and his two other siblings, while his mother brings his baby brother to treatments at the hospital.
Diego is 19 years old and lives in NY
Diego is an incredibly strong willed, charismatic, mature and resilient youth. Diego's family emigrated to the United States when he was a young boy. He has provided a great deal of support to his parents, teaching them english, babysitting his younger siblings, all the while trying to learn the language himself and dedicate his limited time to school work.
