Jayleen, 15 years old, NJ
Jayleen is a happy and sweet young girl with a love for softball, a beautiful smile and a good sense of humor. She had been raised by her older siblings, grandmother and aunt before coming into foster care at 4 years old. Jayleen is very resilient and blooms wherever she is planted, but unfortunately has developed anxiety due to all the changes in her parental figures and home life. When she was six years of age she was returned shortly to her mother's care and then came back into placement when her birth mother was incarcerated. This caused Jayleen's anxiety to skyrocket because she was fearful that her mother could come get her and take her from her stability whenever she felt like it. Jayleen's mother became a parent at a very young age and unfortunately did not have a positive role model herself, so she just repeated the cycle of making men her first priority, using drugs and being involved in criminal activity. Currently Jay is doing very well in her placement and will shortly be adopted into the same home as her maternal half brother.
