Makell experienced mental health issues and did not receive adequate benefits as a foster youth. She had a difficult time completing high school as she was in and out of group homes. Makell was able to overcome these struggles by continuing on to college and joining Foster Nation. Makell believes education is a large part of why she was able to persevere. Makell aspires to work in the film industry.
