NMD Angel Gurrola has been a client of the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) for most of his life. He has experienced living in foster care, family homes, legal guardianship, and ultimately, he was adopted. At the age of 18, Angel re-entered the DCFS system and is currently under the jurisdiction of the court. He lives in the Supervised Independent Living Program with his non-related extended family, whom he considers his support family. Angel views this family as his own. He has a passion for working and believes that keeping busy helps him stay out of trouble in the community. Throughout his teenage years and into adulthood, Angel has enjoyed working on cars, focusing on repairing and restoring them. His ultimate dream is to become a race car driver. In the meantime, he works as an animal groomer at Petco, where he feels he excels at his job.
