Fatima, 21 years old, CA

Currently a junior at Sacramento State University. She transferred to community college in spring 2025, where she earned her associate in arts and her associate in business administration degrees with honors. As a full-time student at Sacramento State, she is working towards her bachelor's degree in finance and marketing, with the goal of becoming a financial planner. One of her hobbies is photography. For the past year and a half, she has been working as a youth ambassador. In this role, she helps foster youth find valuable resources and advocate for their rights. Some of the things she has done as a youth ambassador include advocating for the Chafee and ETV voucher programs, co-presenting a Peer Partner California Department of Social Services webinar where she shares her personal experiences about how youth partnerships can positively impact foster youth, and conducting training sessions on the importance of mental health. This position has allowed her to connect with young people and assist them in overcoming challenges they face. She is also involved with the California Youth Connection (CYC), where she advocates for the rights of foster youth. In CYC, she participates in meetings where they discuss policy decisions, using her advocacy skills to push for meaningful changes. She is passionate about advocating for and promoting financial literacy, housing stability, education guidance, and the foster youth bill of rights.
