Asher entered kinship care under their aunt but eventually returned to the system, feeling out of place, especially as a gay, gender non-conforming person. Their experiences in various group homes were mixed; the first was easygoing but had a constantly changing staff, making it hard for Asher to connect. Tragically, they witnessed a death at the Wayfinder group home in Los Angeles before moving to Haynes in La Verne, where Asher faced significant homophobia. Despite this, they found the experience helpful in learning to embrace their identity through therapy and self-reflection. Asher's strengths include creativity and resilience. They are an artist who values expressing themselves through various mediums, which has been a crucial part of their journey.
