Jasper, 11 years old, WA

Jasper is a creative, kind, and resilient child who has shown remarkable understanding throughout his family’s experience with housing insecurity. During a period when his family moved between hotels while working toward stable housing, Jasper remained adaptable and positive. He consistently advocates for himself and his sister when they need support, such as winter clothing or food for the weekends, demonstrating maturity beyond his years. Jasper is a highly capable student who takes great pride in his work, particularly in writing. This year, without prompting, he authored a short story titled Forgotten and designed his own board game using school materials. Jasper understands the importance of education and is motivated by the belief that learning will open doors for his future. He has left a mark on many staff at his school who all care for his well-being and future.
