Chardei’s journey through foster care and adulthood is marked by resilience and a strong commitment to her family and community. Entering foster care as a teenager, she maintained a close bond with her first foster parent, which continues to provide support. After aging out, she faced housing instability during her pregnancy, leading her to seek homeless services from the county. Determined to create stability for herself and her children, Chardei secured a Section 8 voucher and carved a path forward. She began her career in service, working with youth at a nonprofit and eventually becoming a case manager with Weingart, where she helps individuals connect to housing resources. She faced challenges when she lost her job and risked eviction, but with assistance from A Sense of Home's program, she stabilized her housing and found new employment. Chardei is a devoted mother of four and a proud grandmother, placing family at the heart of her life. In her free time, she enjoys reading, cooking for loved ones, and dancing to her favorite music.
