Dana, 16 years old, CA
Dana is an outgoing, optimistic, and goal-oriented young person who entered foster care in March 2025, along with her three younger siblings, after being removed from her parents’ home due to a serious physical abuse situation. The siblings are now safely placed together with their paternal aunt, where Dana reports feeling welcomed, grounded, and safe. Dana recently completed her sophomore year of high school. Her teachers describe her as a pleasure to have in class, and she remains on track to graduate on time despite the significant disruptions and challenges she has experienced over the past few years. She enjoys baking and art as creative outlets and has also been focused on improving her physical health, with a goal of returning to the school wrestling team next season. Dana is currently studying for her driver’s permit online and is excited to be participating in a job readiness program to prepare for summer employment. She already has a resume and is working on strengthening her interview skills. Dana is an extremely resilient and caring big sister who continues to look toward her future with clarity, determination, and optimism.
