Axel, 18 years old, CT

Axel has experienced more loss and instability than most people face in a lifetime. As an infant, he entered foster care in Oregon alongside his twin sister. Tragically, his twin sister passed away while they were in care. Years later, Axel lost his mother as well. His father remains in Oregon, and Axel has had little to no connection with family support systems. Today, he often describes feeling very alone in the world. Despite these unimaginable challenges, Axel continues to move forward. He graduated from Hope Academy, where staff have become some of the most consistent and caring adults in his life. They speak highly of his determination, intelligence, and potential. Axel dreams of attending trade school and becoming an electrician. Those who know him best believe he is more than capable of achieving that goal. Currently, Axel is living alone in a hotel room in Milford while working to secure permanent housing. He understands that obtaining stable housing is the critical first step toward employment, independence, and building the future he deserves. Yet even in the face of uncertainty, he remains hopeful and motivated.
