A laptop for Axel who lost his twin sister in foster care, his mom years later, and his computer in a move, and still has not given up
Axel, 19 years old, CT |
NEEDED BY 07/10
Wish submitted by:
Department of Children and Families, ConnecticutAxel entered foster care as an infant alongside his twin sister, who passed away while they were in care. Years later he lost his mother too. His father is in Oregon and there is very little family connection. He often says he feels very alone. And yet he graduated. He wants to become an electrician. The people who know him believe he will.
Axel is living in a hotel room right now, working toward permanent housing on his own. His laptop was stolen during a move. Without it he cannot complete driver's ed, job search, communicate with service providers, or enroll in school. For a young man who has lost so much and is still choosing to build something, a laptop is not a want. It is what makes everything else possible.
