Carlos is a transfer student majoring in accounting who has worked hard to build a new life after a childhood marked by family and housing instability. Before transferring to KU, he worked full-time as a corrections officer while attending community college, determined to earn his four-year degree. Since transferring, he's had to cut back to part-time work at a donut shop so he can stay a full-time student and graduate on schedule. Without a consistent family support system, Carlos works hard just to cover his basic needs, and he's currently searching for a second on-campus job to help make ends meet.
