Yana, 17 years old, NJ
The youth has been in our foster care since June 2026. Prior to placement in our treatment home, she experienced multiple placements in group home settings. The youth has documented diagnoses of Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and Insomnia. Prior to placement, the youth displayed significant behavioral challenges, including aggression toward adults and peers. Since entering our treatment home, we have worked with her to develop and practice healthier coping skills and alternative ways to manage her emotions and behaviors. The youth has demonstrated significant progress since her placement. She is attending school consistently, following rules and expectations established by adults, and demonstrating improved behavior and interactions with others. She has also expressed a desire to make positive changes in her life and stated that she wants to improve herself in order to have a better future. Overall, the youth has shown meaningful growth and an increased willingness to use positive coping strategies, follow expectations, and make healthier choices. Continued support, structure, consistency, and encouragement will help her maintain the progress she has made.
