Walden Family Services is a community-based organization founded in 1976 and serving children, youth, and families spread across Southern California. The Walden Transitional Housing Program of Riverside serves roughly 120 extended care foster youth, aged 18 to 21, through a comprehensive housing program that provides case management and independent living skills. Walden’s transitional housing plus foster care program was among the first of its kind in California, and is the second largest provider. Youth can choose to remain in foster care until age 21 to pursue their education and employment. Walden helps young people decide where to live, cover rent and utilities, and provide basic home furnishings.
