Sando, 26 years old

Sando is a young dad who has chosen to use his experience in life to be a voice for system change at the local and national levels. On a personal level, he has worked hard to successfully participate in a challenging tech apprenticeship for the last three years- while living the challenges of having been in foster care and being a young parent. He has lifted this experience to create a peer mentoring process for young parents that is being tested with the Division of Family and Children Services in Fulton and DeKalb counties, to advocate for tuition waivers with the GA Legislature for technical schools for students that have experienced foster care and at a national level to improve policy for young parents with the Annie E Casey Foundation- all while going to school, working, being a young parent and enjoying time with family and friends.

Sando participated in our 2022 FFY Roundtable and was awarded a car! This wish helps with his car insurance!
