Lucy, 16 years old

Wish submitted by:

SD DSS - Pennington County

Lucy is one terrific teenager. She has 9 younger siblings and is caring and helpful to them all. She helps cook and do projects. She plays with and redirects her younger siblings in such a mature manner. She is involved at school and is in volleyball . She is active and resourceful and an amazing young lady.

Lucy loves to read and have her own quiet time. She has not read these books but lives in South Dakota and knows the areas that are in the books so is excited to read and learn about what life was like on the Prairie in the "Olden Days." Lucy does not have many things that she can call her own with so many siblings and would really enjoy her own books.

"Hi, Lucy! I hope you enjoy reading the "Little House" books. It's exciting, isn't it, to read books by somebody who wrote about her own real life? When I was 11, my grandma gave me a kind of "olden days" book, called Anne of Green Gables. I really loved it and read all of that author's books. And guess what.....her name was Lucy, too! Take good care of yourself like you take care of your sisters and brothers, Lucy. Happy day, ever day, to you! Mary from Georgia "

"Mary, Thank you so very much for getting Lucy the Little House in the Prairie books. She lives on the prairie in South Dakota and will love these books for Christmas. She likes to read and especially when it is cold outside (which can get - 40 here). She will not only enjoy reading these she will learn a lot about our area and the way life was. THANK YOU (I will let her know also, about Anne of Green Gables which I know she would like but probably has not heard of)"
