Jay is a survivor of a crime and a house fire, enduring unimaginable trauma. She lost her mother and only sibling in the fire, leading to depression. With no place to live, she stays with a sickly family friend, as her incarcerated father will be in jail for 20 more years. However, Jay’s future holds hope as she plans to move to Canada to live with her grandmother. Despite her focus issues, Jay is determined to obtain her GED. She finds solace and self-expression through creative outlets like support groups, music, arts and crafts, watching movies, and reading. Jay’s strength, resilience, and unwavering spirit inspire those around her. Despite her hardships, she remains kind, creative, and friendly. Jay’s journey is a testament to her determination to overcome challenges and thrive.

Jay wishes for a reading pen to assist with her struggles with reading comprehension. She used to have a reading pen as a study tool and, unfortunately, lost this device in a house fire. As she prepares to study for her GED in January 2024, this reading pen would be a tremendous help. This device will bring Jay the support she needs to continue her educational journey and overcome her challenges.
