He wants to help his brother come to the U.S. and help him get a better life than the one they had in their home country. He also wants to eventually, after completing his education and going through all the necessary steps to become more independent, become a civil engineer.
Arif is not used to the cold, and since he has only been in the US for a couple of months, he doesn't have that many jackets to choose from. He wants a new jacket to have a bit more variation to his wardrobe and help him keep warm.
